Had to smile at Linekar in the build up: "Why the long face, Ruud?"! Jockey got it wrong though, by slating zonal marking. We never looked vulnerable at set pieces, compared to the man-to-man mayhem at their end. But that's the point. If man-to-man fails, it's the player and not the system that gets the flak; when zonal marking fails people cry to scrap the system.

Did anyone see the Spurs-Wigan game today? I thought that Spurs were poor, and Wigan were well-worth their point - they perhaps should have won. Spurs registered a pathetic one shot on target in the second half, and considering that Wigan have one eye on the cup final they were magnificent. I think I speak for all non Man Utd fans when I say I will be willing them on in Cardiff. Spurs meanwhile are in real danger of slipping right down the league. We have had fairly easy games recently, failed to capitalise, and now we have some really tough ones approaching. I have this terrible feeling that another mid-table finish could be looming.

And why has our playing style suddenly become a poor imitation of Bolton, launching balls up to Mido from defence, when we have all that supposed talent in midfield? The truth is, we have not got many true wide players. Lennon is great, but aside from this our wingers are either on loan at other Premiership clubs (Ziegler and Routledge ( ) or a fat injury prone Irishman.

I've no idea how we failed to beat Villa. If you have 20+ shots on goal, you should expect to win! Micah's late header saved us.

yer but vassell missed one aswell either hit it over or it was a tame shot that the keeper saved. Beckham I can forgive for skying over though.
