I think Rooney's position is fine. He needs space to burst from behind and shoot, rather than a RVN tap in style inside the box (closest thing is probably Owen atm). Ideally Id like to see a RVN style player who plays infront of him though, with an attacking right wing and an attacking left wing supplying him.

Beckham-------------------------------(x)

Player x is someone who can cross in the balls well to Owen and can also attack. e.g. Duff. But there isnt anyone who fits this description in the England squad. Maybe wright-Philips?

yup, same as brdige.....i really don't know who i would put where
Ok, so we don't have a proper left midfield player, but we have an amazing left back who attacks down the left as well, but who's defending has come on leaps and bounds. I reckon that I'd still keep Cole as left-back.

probably. i think bridge is better equipped at running past people AND producing an end product than cole

Hmmmm, sometimes, but Cole does a good job, and CAN produce an end product as well sometimes, and also runs into the box quite often.
Oh, and it was nice to see Butt covering Cole just in case.

i like the way cole makes those darting runs in between defenders, and rolls the ball into the box for one of the forwards....but i also think the bridge can put in a pretty good cross on the byline

he is on the right on wolfie's pic, isn't he?
anyway, i think the guy is awesome and can be so effective anywhere he playes....on the left, he'd probably cut inside, take on a few players and have a shot or feed it into a forward....unfortunately, i can't see sven playing him

nah Becks would be shyte on the left imo. He drifts inwards anyway.

Anyway he is unavailable for Wednesday.

you're right - he's kinda too slow for a left winger. But, he drifts inwards So it doesn't really matter

if we're going for 4-4-2, then bridge

Downing, obviously - he is actually the best English left winger at moment. But as he isn't in the squad, I'll go for Hargreaves.

I think that Bridge should play on the left-midfield, cos he and Cole sometimes link up pretty well.
