Still not that old. It's more of 35+ when you're considered in international football as getting on, or so I last heard when presenters talked about the French national team.
Yup, very true. 31 isn't very old at all.

Probably means he'll end his football career in Spain.

Scholes quit at 30. Shearer quit at... 31? All the best players move aside for the youngsters He won't want to stay just for the sake of staying.

This is one of two days of the year when I'm actually wanting the mags to win, simply so I can mock as Ferguson's nose becomes an even deeper shade of purple and his team stumble into mid-table mediocrity.

They don't stand a chance!

Scholes and Shearer both quit at 29... Beckham should follow suit.

Why? I recond shearer/scholes could play for another good few years.

Yeah they could have, I don't think the same for Beckham though.

How about this for a squad of England midfielders - Wright-Phillips, Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick, Beckham, Downing, Joe Cole, Butt, Jenas/Hargreaves?

Despite the fact Downing is currently ripping West Brom to shreds, I wouldn't have him in the England squad yet. Maybe for the next world cup qualifier if he's consistent for the rest of the season. Right now I'd like to see
Gerrard, Lampard, Wright-Phillips, Butt, Parker, Beckham, Hargreaves, and J Cole, but playing Wayne Brdige left mid.

Though I would have Chris Riggott in the squad. Looks like he's in line for his 7th (yes, 7th!) man of the match in a row. Could go to Schwarzer at the minute - although knowing Sky's over reactions and over hyping I wouldn't mind betting my house on the fact Downing will get it (though to be fair he is playing quality).

And that one has to go down as an own goal.

Blimey. Up to 4th now, which sets us two up nicely for our encounter next week.

Riggott was immense, Schwarzer was world class and Downing is growing in stature with every game. But the biggest prize goes to Kanu - A nobel prize for discovering a new law of physics. Unbelievable.

WTF, that table is crap. Shearer hasn't scored that many either. Henry is the top scorer, followed by Johnsen. Baros has scored more than RVN!
