Kluivert got off scot free. But then again that was on the continent and they are crazy.

Edit: Actually, bringing that back up again makes it even crazier than it seemd first time round. How can you get off free for hit and run and rape? I'm off to investigate...

However at this time Kluivert's personal life began to cause problems, he was charged with manslaughter after running an art critic over in his new sports car, to which he received community service and a driving ban. He was also charged with rape on a separate occasion but he was to be later acquitted.

He was charged with manslaughter for running over and killing someone while showing off his new car. He only received mandatory community service and a driving ban for that crime.
Bah. That's all I can find and my tea's ready.

It's shocking that he can get away with that and get only community service and a driving ban.

I was given community service for breaking and entering. How can that carry the same sentence...

In my opinion, the substantive side to vehicular homicide should be be the same as 'regular' homicide.

It is a lot easier to kill someone by accident in a vehicle tho than regularly... tho I guess the effects are the same.

But then a life has been lost on both scenarios? Surely you have seen some disrespetful sentences given out where death has resulted from driving? Why should, in essence, someone's life be valued less, because of a different charge and the (lack of) severity because they were struck down by a car instead of being shot? Someone could well plan to kill someone using a car knowing that he'd get no more than 6 years via death by dangerous driving, if it's murder the sentence is 15 years before mitigation and aggravating factors considered in each case. Should criminals be able to bargain-hunt in such a way?

No they shouldn't. Murder is murder. Doesn't matter how it is done.

Well as it happens when I was younger and we lived in Norwich. I did support the Canaries for a while and then I saw the light and got my brain back.
