AS CITY LIFE: how to use sources??

hey Im studying classics - city life in ancient rome on OCR, and a part of the content is being able to reference sources such as the satyricon and things like inscriptions.
a) how do you revise things like this? do you memorise quotes like you would in english lit?
b) how would you reference them? something like 'as shown in the inscription _____________'?

(a) You might want to arrange your revision into different themes/topics. Underneath each one, write out the relevant bits from each source. Try to be as detailed/specific as you can, remembering, e.g. what happened, the names of key individuals, and thinking about the reliability of the source in relation to the particular theme.
(b) You don't need to provide exact quotes. Paraphrasing is fine. "In Cicero's De Imperio, we are told that Pompey the Great..."
