The Student Room Group

Hi,

I think you are able to select the hours you want to work but majority of it depends on if your employers agree to it and if there is a vacancy during those hours requested by yourself.

McDonalds do require a lot young students and are in fact the most flexible employers in my opinion. There have been many vacancies that I have read that have stated that the hours can be arranged at the interview to suit the employee needs

McDonalds worker here. I have had no probems with requesting what hours i can work and what i can't. If you go for an interview keep hammering home the fact that you are limited to when you can work.

In most stores they should be able to work around when you can work. Before you apply go and ask to talk to the Store Manager / Shift Manager and ask them about shift times. But please do not go in at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon, you will not get any help from an often understaffed shift manager who is up to their eye balls in work.

hey got an application, whats the difference between a crew member, and a customer care assistant?

Customer Care assistants tend to be filled by Lobby hosts / hostesses. These are the people who work in the lobby cleaning tables etc, but are meant to interact with customers more. The ones who bring little kids balloons and crayons, and make sure the general public is happy.

Crew members (what McDs like to call Staff) are your general McDs employee. Here you can be stationed to work anywhere in the store. Basic pay will be less than a Customer Care Assistant.

Chances are that you will be offered a job as a crew member before moving to a customer care assistant.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
