# Simplyfing expressions with surds, need help! Watch

1. Im doing MEI C1 and I come across a point in book where I dont understand the working out they have done...

Can anyone explain where the other x + 7 to the power of a half went? It just dissapeared from the equation

They took it out as a common factor. It's like doing:

3x+3xy = 3x(1+y)
3. Factorised, then simplified further.
