It probably will be just voluntary. Most charity shops have some paid vacancies, but they advertise those and they tend to be the management type positions

it'll be voluntary.
I use to work at a British Heart Foundation shop in a voluntary capacity and the manager and assistant manager were paid employees and the part time shop assistant was paid, other than that, it was purely volunteers and community service.

Hi, I just handed in my CV to them and was just wondering if I'd get payed if I got accepted. My dad thinks that because it's a 'charity' shop, its all voluntary work:redface:

I have worked there myself and whilst it is a lovely place to work...your Dad is right. Since it is a charity shop you probably won't get paid unless it is a managerial position as someone else pointed out. Go for it though...you'll feel like you are making a real difference:biggrin: And you probably will be!
It will definitely be unpaid work although you can at least note it down as work experience. And you do gain experience in a charitable sector and the fact you’re doing it for free is even better in terms of further employment. I'm currently working at a charity shop myself and in fact am enjoying it a lot and not I am certainly not taking into account what other people’s opinions are on the subject of not getting paid and other then that it’s great to meet different people and be part of a team. In reality only the manager are the ones who get paid other then that charities are based on voluntary work as they have limited funds from the government. But at some point in life its not always about the money, you will be making a fundamental difference to the research. You play a vital role and in the awareness of these diseases which do exist. As well as that its very flexible as you can agree to the hours with the manager who do try their best to be as flexible as possible.
