I'd definitely recommend the Turl Street colleges (Jesus :sheep:, Lincoln and Exeter). They're all middle sized, renouned for being quite friendly (although by that token also relatively insular) and yet still do pretty well. I'd naturally recommend Jesus over the other two.

All colleges claim that they are 'relaxed'. It's one of those things in every entry in the alternative prospectus

The best way to tell the differences in the atmospheres at each college is to have a look around, preferably when there are students there.

Fact*: Teddy Hall is the best :p:

(see this thread: Why is St. Edmund Hall so good?

To quote to the virgin alternative guide:

New College is one of Oxford's least stressful places to live

That was one of the (many) reasons I applied there, though I cannot yet comment on its validity...

Hertford is actually the most relaxed college for every subject except medicine. The most academic pressure from tutors anyone gets is "do your best". And that's the truth.

And it looks like this approach works - we're consistently near the top of the Norrington table.
Worcester and Pembroke are well reknowned for relaxed and social.

So basically, everyone will tell you their college is relaxed.

Yep, Wadham is relaxed too

lol! Anyone out there willing to name their college as stressful?!

LMH is by far the most relaxed college in Oxford. With imminent exams, how many other colleges had 11 a side football every night from 7 till 9? (3rd year versus all comers). Its just so awesome.

That may have been because on a football norrington table you'd have been lower than on the real thing :p: (Maybe I should change my handle to BitchE)
