GCSE Science AQA (ISA)

I am really struggling with my ISA, and we are doing the practical next week along with the exam but I am yet to get my head around it.
I have done the method, equipment, hypothesis etc etc, but through the help of a friend.
I'm just wondering if anybody can help me understand it a little better?

The hyp is:
the amount of carbonate in an ore sample can be measured by adding hydrochloric acid until it stops fizzing

Thank you in advance!
