Do you mean in anaerobic respiration?
Anaerobic respiration is when your cells make energy without enough oxygen, e.g. when you sprint. Then you pant afterwards to get more oxygen into your system. This is repaying the oxygen debt, to get rid of the build up of lactic acid (produced in anaerobic respiration and is why your muscles are always sore after intense exercise).
Anaerobic respiration: glucose-> energy+lactic acid
hope this helps

It's the oxygen required to oxidise the lactic acid built up from anaerobic respiration in your muscles. This tends to happen during rigorous exercise in which your muscles need oxygen faster than it can be supplied by your blood - you respire anaerobically to compensate.
