Do you have a set number of partners in your head?

When I was younger I had an idea that I never wanted to sleep with more than 4 guys. Sadly, I have sailed past that now. Oops.
I was wondering if other people have set themselves a 'limit' and if you have stuck to it? Also, what was the limit. I know some will be no more than 1 but what about other people?
It's not about what is the 'ideal' number, as everyone has their own idea. <ore about whether you think you should try to stay below what you consider ideal or whether you tried and failed (like me) !
I guess this is probably going to go out to the slightly older members.

Well... :P I never ever set myself a limit, but I did promise myself that I wouldnt sleep with so many people that i felt like a "man whore" etc.

So far I am well below the number, then again I am not at uni yet. But I should have a girlfriend (still) when i get to Uni... so doubt that will go rocketing for a while.

IMO setting a target, is not something I would do. I can understand why it would be done, but to be honest as long as you are reasonable about what you do, does it matter how many people?

but surely setting up a target in your head is setting you up for disappointment. i'd just see how it comes...and nope, i don't have a set number in my head. it's never really occured to be to treat sexual partners as a statistic.

i didnt think people set themselves an idea number of people to sleep with :confused:

ive only slept with one person (my boyfriend) who ive been in a relationship with for nearly 2 years now and im happy with him

i don't really know, i'm in the situation where i've only had one partner and he's my bf... but maybe i'm being a bit delluded that he'll be my only partner (although i can hope)... maybe not double figures?

reminds me of that book that's out at the moment '20 times a lady' where she doesn't let herself sleep with more than 20 guys so she goes back through them to see which one she can make herself fall in love with

I don't have any idea of how many guys I'll sleep with in my lifetime! But ideally I would like to keep it fairly small (i.e., not be a slut!) :smile:

But it just depends on how many serious relationships I have (I don't have casual sex). I mean, I'd never say "Sorry boyfriend # but I can't have sex with you because I've reached my limit" :p:

I never had a set number in my head, but I always had a romantic ideal that it would not be many, as I'd find the right gal etc. However that didn't happen and the number stands at 26, and it's not something I'm proud of. I'd far rather have one partner who I'm madly in love with and who's mad about me than sleep with x-number of people. I really messed myself over doing that. Fortunately I got tested at the clap clinic very recently and am 100 % disease free, but purely through luck as I wasn't always sensible....But these days I'm with one girl and all is great. Sleeping aorund really isn't all some people crack it up to be.

i don't like girls who use words like slag and slut. it's an insult to the concept of female liberation. it's ok for guys to sleep around sure, but for a girl to sleep with a male, OH DEAR GOD JUST DON'T! stand up for your sisters, even if you don't believe in the concept, or it makes you just as bad as a man using the same term
