Getting into uni which isn't in adjustment?

Hello,

I applied to UCL and Warwick for Bsc Economics and got rejected from both due to my low predicted grades, ABB in pre u maths, physics and economics.

I know that those two unis don't participate in adjustment, but if I were to get A*A*A on summer exams, which is higher than their standard offer, would there be a slight chance I could be admitted to any of the two unis mentioned if I were to ring them up in August after getting my exam results?
I am asking this because I know a few people who got admitted to UCL this way, but their course was much less competitive though. Also it is not very common to get much better grades than predicted on exams, so there won't be many students trying this.

Thank you,

NeoXx
You could try but it will most probably be completely pointless. If you get much higher grades than your firm offer your best bet is to take a gap year and reapply to better unis.
