My MP sent me a Birthday card?!?!?

O.k this has really freaked me out. A few minutes ago some post came through my door with one adressed to me from - and i quote from the post mark - The House of Commons. Understandably intrugued i opened it up and there was a Card celebrating my 18th Birthday from my trusty local Labour MP. I know its just like the ones you get form your mobile phone company or something but it really pissed me off... I know why but i can't explain it, i mean what the **** are they playing at?

How perfunctory; not to mention, disingenuous!

I would recommend that you first re-cycle the paper, then lodge a formal complaint. Up his arse. (Ideally, on said paper; that is, assuming you've taken pains to leave all the sharp edges intact. Otherwise, a tawdry partisan placard will suffice.)

LMAO - I do wonder if Beatrice got one? How do you compalin to that though - Thankyou so much for the card but don't come vote scrounging again you jumped up, middle class tosser. I would love to tell a Labour MP exactly what I think of their party, although i think they might jump off of something really high about half way through because i've bored them to suicide.

here's a little quote from the letter "reaching the age of 18 brings you a great variety of rights and opportunities. one of there is the right to vote; a simple but sffective way of expressing how you feel about the people who represent youand run your services"

"I hope you celebrate your 18th birthday in a suitable way"

So many comment soooooo little time
Lib Dems sent me one, but it was hand signed.....

You'd think he'd have something better to do.

Trying to get you to:
1. remember that you can now vote.
2. BOTHER to vote.
3. vote for him as he's been so kind as to send you a birthday card.

Better than trying to appease the voting public? Surely not. God, I wish politicians weren't so vote-chasing.
I got one of those...it was with a letter saying 'Congratulations on your coming of age...blah blah blah...'

Was it, perchance, the Birthday Party?

Only, that would certainly explain an awful lot.

Profesh! That was awful :p:

I want a birthday card :bawling:

Being in David Cameron's constituency, I got one from him! Some of the girls at school were pleased with theirs! Lib Dems send you a letter asking for your vote and well, labour, nothing!

I'm in Tony Blair's constituency, but I didn't get one. Oh well.

I think getting a card off your MP is great. Our representatives should do more to get young people to vote.

I agree, was keen to vote as soon as I was 18. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to! Although along with general life skills and finance, I think we should get better politics/general knowledge/life lessons from young years at school
