Ear/Hearing Problems

I was using a cotton bud to clean my inner ear about week ago now (yes, I know you're not supposed to do that but I'm generally quite careful with it and I don't really know how I'd clean the inside of my ear any other way), and I think I may have done something to my hearing. At first both of my ears were a bit blocked, but I kept using some olive oil in case I had pushed the wax further down or something. This has solved the problem with my right ear, but my left ear is still a bit weird. It doesn't hurt or anything and I don't think it's blocked. But my hearing is kind of fuzzy; I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't feel like I'm hearing clearly out of my ear, I can hear this fuzzy type background noise out if it.

If I had done something to my eardrum, it would actually hurt, right?
Can anyone recommend some good products for cleaning ears?
Thanks for any help.

i think if you'd have burst your ear drum you would have known about it!! probs best just to go to a chemist and ask for eardrops.
Pardon?

That's what I thought!
Just give it a bit of time for the pressure to return to normal and all will be well.
Get your ears cleaned out at the doctors.

It'll clean your ears out good and proper.

I'd imagine you'd know if you'd messed up your ear drum to be honest.

Yeah, hopefully I'll be able to get an appointment at the doctors this week. *sigh*

What kind of joker puts olive oil in their ears?
Had this problem once, yea the earbud thing... not good at all. anyways the olive oil does work tho u need it there in for around 15 mins and its gotta be medical stuff not the cooking stuff. Also u need to face the sides so the oil flows down. when thats done try sleeping so that ear is pointing down. this will only help to a certain extent really. Doctors will probs ask you to continue this to ease it a bit, then they'll use a machine which pumps water in to flush the blockage out. this imo isnt the best way and can be painfull. if possible you should go to a specialist who will deal with it with special tools.
btw the background noise is normal... dunno what its called but its like the sound of a tv whent he volume is off.
like white noise?

Yes, that's exactly what it's like! So, do you mean I shouldn't be worrying about it? Or does something still need to be done to get rid of it?

Anyway, the nearest appointment I could get was for Friday next week.

As peeps say it is quite simple, with no doctor experience I can just say, when everything comes muffled and you try and spin 5 times and fall over, book an appointment to get your ears syringed for around 1-2 weeks time, use olive oil every night (and day if poss) then go, they will clean out with water and probs lecture you about putting things in your ears like thy do with me every time even though I dont even put things into my ears!
