Physics doesn't answer the question why.
Physics points out that light and other forms of radiation can be modelled as if they were waves. It also points out that it can behave like particles (photons).
It isn't possible to answer the question why this is the case. Physics answers the question "how", though, and using these models can predict the behaviour of the waves/photons.
You can answer the question why light reflects, refracts, diffracts etc by saying that light is (is behaving like) a wave. But you can't go beyond that and meaningfully answer why it's a wave. You have to accept that at some point, when constantly asking why, you run out of answers.
