Advice on an injury?

I went out to go running last night, and some people came out of a pub a bit rowdy, so deciding not to stick around I ssprinted off immediately feeling a tearing feeling in the top of my thigh (a musle which has been giving me twinges for a week or two). I stopped about 10 seconds later, and walked on a bit. I then stretched it and massaged it a bit, lust loosening up the musle. i tried to continue with my run, but kept getting painful twinges so stopped halfway through and walked home.

I think i have pulled the musle, but the thing is that I have got up this morning and feel a lot better with it, also unless I am sprinting it was one that I woudl not use directly with a medium pase run.

Therefore I am going to go running tonight. Does anyone have any tips, so that I get help get rid of this, and make sure it dosnt get worst. I really want to start doing some sprint training soon as I am pre-training for next season (rugby - flanker/center).

I wouldn't go running tonight if I were you. I'd say go to a doctor or something and get it checked before doing it further damage by running.

I woudl but to be honest GP's dont really know that much about sports injuries. Last season I pulled a musle in my leg - the doctor says rest and do as little as possible for 2 weeks - the club physio with a degree in sports injuries, showed me some special stretches and told me to jog it out.

Whatever you do DON'T run. I'm currently having physio because I pulled my tendons running and then ran on them and have subsequently made things ten times worse so i've been advised not to do any high impact activity for 3 months. So yeah don't run. I thought I was almost recovered as it only hurt (like hell) when I had physio but I stupidly ignored his advice not to run at all. And i'm now back to square one.

Although i'm not sure what muscles you've pulled and like someone else has already posted some may advise you to run it out and stretch etc. If you're worried about it go see a sports injury therapist they know what their talking about.
