The Runs

Regarding ze toilet context...i could have posted this as anonymous, but i don't know how to and i mainly can't be arsed finding out...so...

anyone know how to combat such problems? I've had 'The Runs' for the last 2-3 days FYI :frown:

i.e. foods and drinks i should be having, stuff i should be avoiding...
as for the reason, probably because i have recently got back from being abroad for two weeks, and my diet has changed, if ever so slightly....

No ****ty comments please.

Was "****ty" a pun?

Anyway - drink flat lemonade or water and don't eat for a day. (Not sure why lemonade but it's worked for me in the past.) Should clear it.

try drinking water,to replenish what you've lost. try to eat some vegetables, things that can add bulk to your poo.and see a doctor if you're still worried, they give the best advice. i think you're supposed to avoid milk and stuff but i'm not sure.sorry :hugs:

should really eat chicken and rice, its binding. personally id get some tablets to hard yourself up a bit. No need for starving, you only starve if its sickness.
try pepto bismol! works wonders.

I actually wish i had the runs now, so much better than constipation,(or atleast thats what i think now)
Thanks for the help

God damn it

I'll avoid dairy products and go for extra vegetables...and some rice (all by itself?)

pepto bismol??? what's this? do i need to go to the doctors for this?? or is it some kind of drink i can get from the average supermarket??

NB: It was a pun.

They make tablets to stop constipation, sure there aren't any for the runs?

You can get it from the pharmacy, it cures the runs and other things like sickness, tummy aches etc

Pepto bismol is a medicine thing for upset stomachs, including the runs etc. You can get it from a chemist, or maybe a supermarket (not sure.) You don't need to go to the doctor for it though. There are lots of products out there, tablets and liquid medicine etc, just go to a chemist or supermarket and read a couple of boxes and pick one of them!

Imodium or Diocalm - plus rehydration formula
I hate to add confusion to the debate, but I get the runs when I've eaten too much fruit! I usually find eating something eggy, i.e. eggy bread, omellette, or just even an egg will do. Alternatively, does anyone in your family take iron tablets? One of those will bind you up a treat, but don't take more than one a day, or a) you'll be permanently bunged or b) you can overdose on them, not sure how many you need, but you can.

eggs are also binding, i would avoid dairy and high fiber foods such as bran and fruit.
Immodium would be an idea.

Drink a lot of water because you're losing a lot of fluid.

I was always made to only eat dry toast for an upset stomach. I suppose it works, I've never had runs for more than 1 day.

I had it for 5 days once...played havoc with my contraceptive pill  Also, when I thought I was better I went out for a meal with my family. Turns out I wasn't better after all lol

Get Immodium and drink raspberry cordial. Worked a treat in Bali with my Bali Belly.

I've just learnt this for myself. Ate sensibly all day yesterday, some crackers to eat....

all day, fine, no runs, and when i did go, it wasn't sloppy
"yayyyyyyy" i thought to myself. Then come the evening, my brother was ordering a chinese meal, so i asked him to get some bbq spare ribs...which were lush. This morning: I have already visited the toilet 3 times, once early pm, and each time, it was as sloppy as ****.

So my advice is...don't treat the runs in a willy-nilly fashion...

Stay off high fibre foods for a while and try taking Imodium Plus. That should sort it out.
