If you have concerns, bring a friend along.

I've done it quite a few times, not all relationship kind of things though, some just friends. I've never had a problem, but either take someone with you or let people know where you're going etc. When I met up with someone, I let a few friends at uni know and one of them rang me in the middle of the day to check I was ok.

ouch, serious sunburn in your picture.

Mine?! I know, fell asleep in the sun!

Take someone with you.

If you can't, then tell someone you're going, where you're meeting, how you've met them, what time you'll be back. Though I don't recommend going alone :s:

Meet in a public place.

Take your phone.

If he/she seems tres dodgy leave as soon as you can. If it's in a public place it won't seem so strange looking.

Go for it!

If you're in a public place it's fine - surely it's similar to meeting someone at a club/pub/bar?

I have done it several times and nothing phased me at all. OTOH these were people l met on the Hamsters' (the band) discussion forum which isnt the 1st place peodos look for 18 yr old guys  I suppose it depends how much you know them and where from... But yeh, i'd go for it

I've met people from the internet a couple of times before, I've always told my mates where I'm going at least...and it's always been fine.

Meeting someone off the internet is fine if you meet them in a public place, but make sure you really do know them before you meet.
Saying oh ive spoke to them online for months isnt knowing them good enough you have to atleast know they are who they say they are if they shown a photo, plus dont go away from the public no matter how much they keep suggesting it.

I've told all my mates where I'm going and everything, and two of them already know him but have never met him in real life either. And no one is free on the day to go with me, i suppose I'll just go for it as i do want to meet him and it will be in a public place but somehow i'm still very worried about this..

Reply 11

You're not 12...I'm assuming you're at least 16, maybe older... 18? You're old enough to go clubbing, and there are few people who would prey on 18yr olds, they're not vulnerable enough

yeah I'm 16 and the guys around 19 and we're meeting in a public place so i know nothing could go wrong there, don't know why i just can't help worrying.

If you're worrying, maybe you're not ready to meet him yet?

It's not that I'm not ready, it's just that I'm a natural worryer and when you hear loadsa stroys on bad experiences it just makes you think..

I'm 19, my boyfriend's 24. Hehehe

Maturity levels are totally different at the ages of 19 and 24 though. Would you ever consider going out with a 16 year old? thought not.
