Wisdom Tooth!

So i had it taken out yesterday at the dentists, and the procedure was fine and relatively painless. It was sore yesterday, but today the side where the tooth was has swollen up and im in quite a bit of pain, i know that this is common- and i think the fact that i also have a stitch in my mouth is making it worse, but im just wondering how long [roughly] this will continue as i have work tomorrow night and if the swelling doesn't go down and im still in a fair bit of pain i think ill be a rather grumpy customer service assisant!

i want mine to start growing out, but then again i don't think the pain will be very looking-forwardable.

The pain is not pleasant, but then again its not the same for everyone
You could be swollen anywhere from a day to a week. Did you get a prescription for anti-inflammatories? You should be taking those as well as pain medication, like perocet or codeine. I just had mine out, I guess it was about three weeks ago now, and I actually ended up just taking extra strength tylenol (or paracetomal or whatever it is people call it wherever you're from) and it worked a lot better, I found. Keep ice packs on your face, change them every 20 minutes.
The stitches, if they're dissolvable, will come out in 7-14 days. You'll feel them getting loose and you can either wait til they come out by themselves and then just spit them out, or you can tug at them a bit (but make sure they've actually come loose before you do that, don't just rip them out. If they're ready to come out, they will come out easily if you pull one of the stringy things).
I don't know if this will help any, this is all just from my experience with them. Everyone is different...my older sister ate pizza on the way home after getting hers out and I was carted home high as a kite, mumbling things about petting lambs and then didn't eat for a week.

^^ Lol, yeah thanks- im dosed up on the ibruprofen, so not sure if i can take coedine today but will definately try for tomorrow.
I was only under local anesthetic [sp?] so it wasn't overly dramatic, but still feeling the after effects. Im on a prescription for anti-biotics to clear up any infection that may pop up, but i do have some anti-inflamitories that didnt get used last time i had them- but they are greek, and not prescribed [as i got them over the counter in greece] so probably best not using them..
The stitch isnt dissolvable, it has to come out in a week, its weird having one inside my mouth though! Thanks for the help, it was very useful, and comforting

EDIT: ahh the old anonymous function slipped up.. dont really know why i did it anyway!
I had all four of mine taken out so they had to put me right out- definitely one of the stranger feelings I've had in my life. They also had to stitch me up in all four places, two stitches in each one. Yeck. It felt so weird. Good luck with yours!
