The Student Room Group
I don't know a huge amount about either, TBH -- but as far as I know, Reading has a better reputation than Oxford Brookes (though the latter is by few means a bad choice). Also, I have heard somewhere that Oxford is supposed to be a ridiculously expensive place to live, so you could probably save yourself a lot by going to Reading.

Well I live in Reading, but don't know a huge amount about the uni. It's a very good university, but so is Oxford Brookes (my brother went there - he's just finished studying Business). Both good universities. Oxford is slightly more expensive than Reading, but you will find good student deals anyway and I don't think the general cost of living is much different. As a place, I think Oxford is nicer than Reading. I find Reading dull - it lacks atmosphere and the nightlife in town isn't great, but i've heard the uni social life is brilliant. Its only 25 mins to London from Reading too, and the shopping is good.

About jobs - lots of shops and cafes etc in town... you have to get in there early though cos jobs fill up quick. You might be able to get jobs in the student union too.
