"Several brutal murders of children have sparked outrage across Turkey, prompting calls to bring back the death penalty and leading the government to stiffen sentences for child killers."

What do you guys think?
Should they bring back the death penalty for child killers?
What kind if impact do you think it will have on other countries?

No. Murder isn't okay just because it is mandated by the state.

If they have ambitions on coming into the EU reintroducing the death penalty would not be a great idea Imo, already questions regarding their human rights record, this isn't going to help in that regard.

We have 'calls to bring back the death penalty' here as well. People in power ignore them on the whole, and life moves on. Is this a proper political movement or just a few tabloids?

If Turkey did bring it back, I'd echo mojojojo101's comments about aspiring EU membership; they'd find it very hard to get in if they went down a more punitive route.

I wouldn't support a move by our Government to bring back the Death Penalty. I have no reason to trust the authorities when they are routinely caught abusing the powers that they currently have.

Turkey certainly shouldn't bring it back. This is a country that routinely abuses human rights. Who knows what type of insanity the Government would engage in if they were allowed to bring back Capital punishment.

Murder is defined as the unlawful killing of an individual. With an emphasis on the word unlawful

Not sure how to view this

Do I think child murderers should be killed? Yes

Do I want Turkey in the EU? Yes

Will this set back their chances of ascension? Yes

Is Erdogan and far-right prick who if White, would be pelted with stones and eggs by middle class pot-smoking White people with dreadlocks? Yes

So much cognitive dissonance

When its a legal killing
If you or I don't have the right to kill someone, how can we delegate that non-existent right to the state?

If it's legal for someone to be executed, then executing them isn't murder. All there is to it.

So if the state declared all killing legal, none of those killings would be murder?

Whatever your answer, I think you're kind of missing the point.
