i need to make X the subject and just to clarify the 'V' is being squared not the rest.

Take 3w to the other side and divide by v^2.

not sure what you're asking when you say
x

v+w
do you mean

\dfrac{x}{v+w}

or something different? If the former I'm not sure what you mean by work it out.

(y-3w)/v^2

3W+V^2X=Y
V^2X=Y-3W
X=(Y-3W)/(V^2)
I think that's the answer
