I have some friends that do it and they hate it, so repetative (obviously).
Most companies will want you to have experience before they take you on- esp if it is just a 6 week post, economically it wont be worth their while training you up, by the time you get fast you will be leaving. (i know this as i applied for a 4-week post and they told me they only recruited people with minimum 1 years experience)

....catch 22

Hmm, good point about the experience. Job centre ad doesn't mention requirement for experience though so maybe best to give them a call tommorow or monday. Cheers

Just go for it... If you dont like it at least you'll have a couple of weeks worth of money. Generally its just inputting crap into a database or reorganising a data base and taking out all the old details and things like that.

theres worse jobs you can do.

I thought the same as you. After one day I wanted to jump out of the window. Give it a go though, but beware the boredom.

My first proper job was in data entry, and I loved it! Let me clarify - the work itself was boring, repetitive, all that stuff, but it required absolutely no brain power or concentration. For that reason, I was able to make some really good friends and sit there chatting for eight hours a day. I honestly think it's the best environment I've ever worked in (since then, I've had some far better paid jobs with more responsibility, but I always smile when I think of my data entry job). If your employers expect you to work in silence, it won't be fun, but it's only six weeks.
