Are...are you real?! I was starting to think no one else in the world did it! :colondollar:

Frankly, my entire year is panicking. There's 6 of us and we've had to teach ourselves the entire course due to our philosophy teacher being ill for the best part of a year and a half. We have no access to past papers, no way of knowing question styles, and no feedback on how we're doing. We've no idea what could come up on tuesday so we've just gone and learnt everything under the sun! :frown:
Haha yes I am real!!
I know exactly what you mean I haven't been able to find anyone else that does it. There's 7 of us in my year that's doing it and we are all panicking too! Oh god that sounds awful, I have no idea how you could teach yourself all that work. I'm so worried for tuesday because even though I have revised I just feel like I know nothing. I'm even more worried for paper 2 and 3 though! I have a link to all the past questions and mark scheme for every question since 2010 somewhere so I'll try and find it for you  good luck! P.s I think ethics will come up as it didn't come up last year and nature of belief. I'm hoping for a question on free will/determinism!

Have you been told what else is likely? Also, for ethics, are we talking DCT or absolutism/relativism? Hoping for Aristotle body and soul, DCT, and Free will. Looking to avoid nature of belief!

Everyone I know if avoiding nature of belief haha! Not sure we just heard ethics in the general term it wasn't specific. Body and soul comparing Plato and Aristotle came up last year so it probably won't be on again :/ I have a feeling Plato's theory of forms might come up but that's just my guess!

I heard augustine and Aquinas came up last year - is it safe to assume they probably won't come up? We've prepared for it but it's not our strongest topic :/ Is a Butler Freud question possible? Or has that come up before?

Yeah it did. I don't think that's ever come up before so it could be possible but I'd be surprised if they were that specific, normally the questions are quite general

Not entirely relevant so feel free to ignore. I'm not doing philosophy academically but am interested in reading into it. I've started by getting a few general overview of philosopy books, with plato, and descartes books too. I'd appreciate any help where to start getting into it

Late response but there's a really good youtube channel called 'The School Of Life'. It kinda explores the philosophies and lives of a plethora of philosophers. You could probably start there and look into the philosophers that interest you the most. I particularly like the story of Seneca and Kierkegaard, my favourite being Camus.

I used to watch school of life but I have read lots of bad things about the channel. It's very biased and only gives the creator's own point of view. His self help stuff can be good but the philosophy bit doesn't give a good full overview.

I just finished reading Sophie's World which had a good overview of most of western philosophies biggest names and saying what they believed along with people's disagreements to their arguments. Now I'm getting into the big original natural philosophers reading their books

Oh I've had the intention of reading Sophie's World - (but exams) - do you, by any chance, have anything else to recommend? I have a lot of spare time this summer :L

I would like to recommend more but it's the first book I've read on philosophy just on my second now aha. But from other people who I have talked to with more experience they have said read a few of the biggest philosophers from each period and people with opposing views to them to get both sides. I gathered a big list of books to read though.

Check through my to read list, some aren't philosophy but most of them I've been recommended from the big names of philosophy through all times periods.
