Err, my question ? :frown:

Well done man, how did you get the A ?? Did you get it in AL level or AS level ? Please tell me how you did it man and how you studied for it. Im thinking about Re-appearing in physics AS in november. Or maybe give the whole AL in next year's june.

I got a B in AS, but then A-Level was easy and thus I lifted my grade to an A .
About your question, for all purposes and intents, it's not possible to lift a D to a A. If you get an A in all the A-Level papers (4,5 & 6), then you'll end up with a B.
As to studying for physics, I always find that reading more than one book helps and I hardly rely on teachers. Along with that, I did around 40 practicals during the year, and I'm sure that helped.
But the most helpful thing is to have past papers with mark schemes and examiner reports, which can be found at: PapersPoint.com
I hope that helps  Good luck!

Thanks man, i know its really hard to get my grade to an A from a D thats why im going to reapear in november or maybe give the whole AL next year in june. What do you think i should do ? Give As in nov and A2 in June or give AL whole in June ?

Wow, A in Physics. Nice. I'm waiting for mine on the 17th and I really, really, really hope I get an A after working my ass off on this subject so much.

It depends. I would personally split it in to two and take AS in Nov and A2 in Jun. But remember that you'll have to study AS work for your synoptic as well, so you'll anyway have to go over that stuff for June.

Okey, i think i should probably try and split it, but the problem is my school wont let me. I'd try and give AS in nov though.

By the way, which books do you guys study physics AS from ? Ive only got one book. I dont really remember its name, it has 2 volumes and its cover has pacific written on it.

I have 9 physics books and I use all of them on a regular basis

Heh, no wonder i got a D. Could you name around 4-5 books which you think are the best ? Thanks

I don't think you actually need 4-5 books to do well. One core text book which is written for your exam board is quite enough to do the job. Its all I used. The important thing with physics is to make sure you understand what it is that you are doing. If you have understanding you can't fail. Maybe we can help you with that if you can first identify areas that you don't understand.

There are quite a few areas .. Ill ask them when i start studying Phsyics AS again, probably from today. Should i make different topics for different problems or just continue in here ?

Quite true...I have no idea why I went on to use nine books (it might have to do with that I like to read Physics). One or two well-written books are all you need. I find the 'Advanced Physics' book by Oxford (its a purple book) to be quite useful. Also the Physics 1 & 2 by OCR are helpful.

Can anyone tell me any websites which cover topics from AL Physics and maybe also some other few AL subjects ? Along with a few question and answers ?

I used the Collins books published to accompany AQA, they were pretty good for that particular syllabus.

alamode --> Go for different threads if you like, as long as they are very different topics, or if you prefer you could keep it in here, but perhaps less will see it. Up to you really.
