So, I'm studying abroad in China right now on my YA. Been here since August 13. I get three sets of Student Finance one in August, Jan and early May.
The August one I should use between August - Jan which I did, no extra money needed.
The Jan one I should use between Jan - May which I did, no extra needed.
I got paid my May one (around 2,000 quid) and I just now have run out of money. My term ends in June 20th but I want to stay in China and practise until August, but my parents have said you don't have the money and are refusing to budge. But I've done a full academic year on just over 2 out of 3 payments, budgeted hard and have 2000 pound in bank that I could use to keep learning because this is the only chance I'll get. Many of my classmates are staying until August 22nd (visa dates) to keep learning and improving and I really want to do the same.
Are my parents being unfair by controlling my money, when I'm 20 and independent enough to live in another country? They are cutting short my experience to learn, because they think it's a holiday, I feel.

If you have the financial means and are over the age of parental responsibility then they have no say in it. You make the decision yourself.
