Hi, I have received offers for Filmmaking at Northern Film School (Leeds Met), Film Production at Gloucestershire University and Contemporary Media Practice at Westminster. I am really not sure which to pick so any feedback from these course would be great

I've just completed my second year at westminster on the contemporary media practice course. Just to clarify we have no exams, we are marked on coursework and practical projects only, not to say it's any easier. On average there was about 74 people in my class in first year. This year there is 64 and I already know a couple people won't be here for 3rd year. Not because they have changed course, but before you'll have to work very hard. But on a positive there are many people to work with who has different skills. The tutors push you constantly. You'll have 4 or 5 modules running at one time. It really is a test of separating those who truly want it. But I have learnt a great deal about media both practically and theoretically. And because it is a media course and not a film course you'll experience all forms of media, such as photography, filmmaking (digital and film), scriptwriting, curating, audio production and hybrid media forms. So in year one you have taster at everything. By years 2 and 3 you'll be specialising in your chosen field.

I was on the Glos campus a few weeks ago and saw media students of some sort walking around with literally home video recorders ( the old tiny ones ) - i'm hoping they were just prospective freshers having a taster day or something.. On the flip side, they seemed to have a couple of really nice editing suites full of macs, so i'd hope they have some decent cameras knocking about somewhere.
