You know that  \frac {d}{dx}(\tan x) = \sec^{2}x, and you know the rule  \int f(x)f'(x) dx = \frac {f(x)^{n+1}}{n+1}, so take the 2 outside the integral and you get \frac {\tan^{2} x}{2} \times 2 which is just \tan^{2} x
