I am an American student (first year undergraduate) studying in the UK at the moment. I've been thinking a lot lately about returning to the United States in my third year. So my question is: is this even feasible? Obviously, the American education system is very different from the British one, and I don't see how my credits can be transferred over.
And if a full transfer isn't possible, can I apply for an exchange program? But seeing that I am already an American, I am guessing that isn't possible? lol.

I think you are eligible for the exchange year regardless of your nationality. However, does your university allow exchanges during your final year?
As for the transfer, you should contact somebody who knows more about the American uni system. For example the Fulbright commission - http://www.fulbright.org.uk
