but is showing the world to be round physics? physics is about understanding why the world is round, which is what newton did (although he used maths)

Yes, showing the world is round is physics, just like showing the universe is 13.7bn years old, or an atom is 10^-10 metres across.

I did send a PM to an op about a physics forum, no reply as yet (the original op I sent it to said he'd pass it on...). We'll have to keep this thread going for now!

These are all the people I have currently been able to find who either:
i) Are studying Physics
ii) Have an offer to study Physics
iii) Will be applying this Sept for Physics
Sorry if I've missed anyone out

I'm studying A level physics as well....

Will you be studying Physics (or engineering) at University? If so you are welcome to become a full member and I'll add you to the list then! If you do not plan on carrying on Physics after 6th form, then you may become an honorary member.

Sorry elpaw! the list isn't in any particular order! If I get time I'll try and either arrange it alphabetically (the fairest way) or in order of the level you currently study it at)

Everyone keep campaigning for our own board

i was just suspicious that bono was the only "new" member to get above an "old" member, and how he had accepted his membership by PM

You'll be pleased to hear I've moved you up

Zazy, I've currently put you under the Honorary member section, until you let me know whether or not you will be studying a physics related course @ uni. Hope to hear from you soon.

i dont really mind, its just an order (and alphabetical would be best), i just found it weird that all other members were listed in order of joining

The order of the level you study it at. Now that would be interesting, where would you put the 'applied physicists' of engineering, astrophysics and geophysics?

Astrophysics would be naturally at the top of course.

I agree, Astrophysics is a great part of Physics.

Hoofbeat... 2 points.

1. put an official member's list up somehwere PLEASE! preferably edit your first post, with the list, like they do for the Gentleman's League. i have no idea who is and isn't in the society.
.
2. put me on the official list

LOL! i don't mean by subject. Like put PhD students first, then degree students, then A-Level, then AS then GCSE and within those categories list the names alphabetically (i'm not bothering with 1st, 2nd yr's etc at uni - too complicated!).

Anyways, as founder, I think I will nominate someone else to do all the hard work! lol. Any takers?

I'm studying physics at AS at the moment, but want to learn more about certain things. I hope to go onto uni to take physics and maybe chemistry. Could I become a member?

I've been away from the forum for some time and as a result I haven't seen this. I'm doing first year Natural Sciences MSci, specialising in physics in later years. Can I join?
