Hi,
I know there are a lot of posts out there asking about alternative routes into studying medicine, but I could not find a case that was similar to mine. I have got GCSE's and was in school until AS-Levels. One year before A-Levels I had to leave due to an illness. I was out of school for two years. By that time I was 19 and moved from my home country Germany to London. After working and living here now for 1 1/2 years I would like to fulfill my dream of studying medicine. (Ive done several internships at hospitals its just something I always wanted to do). Now I have to look into alternative routes of getting into medicine as I obviously do not meet the usual criteria to be accepted onto an undergraduate degree.
Studying A-Levels or looking for alternative routes in Germany is not an option for me, so I am looking for any possibilities there are in the UK.
How likely are the chances that a University would accept someone who did there A-Levels at a College with 21 when there are so many qualified, straight-out-of-school students there and so few places?
Would it be better to think about different options?
Unfortunately I cant afford to do a degree in something else and then apply for a medicine degree as student loan is only available once and I would not be able to afford to go to Uni without student finance.
What other options are out there?
Im open to pretty much everything.
Many Thanks for your comments in advance.
