Depends on genes, environment, blah, blah, blah.. The more often you shave, the faster, darker, and thicker it will grow. It also thickens with age. How old are you?

Er, shave it when it becomes more obvious than you want it to?

okay, so if i never shave my moustache, it will remain as it is?
No. It'll grow. "Shaving makes it grow thicker/faster/darker" is a myth - all it does is make the ends sharper and more stubbly and less fluffy. Leave it a couple of years and you will have a proper moustache if you don't shave. The older you get, the faster that gets anyway.
Keep shaving. Both moustache and beard, until you decide you want to have facial hair. Nothing is worse than a bumfluff moustache. I've had a proper beard since 16, but I'm unable to grow a convincing moustache to this day (I've just turned 18)

Surely that's a contradiction?
I can grow both, and have a beard at the moment because I'm too lazy to shave it. Have to say I don't like it though. Maybe I'll get rid of it.
Sorry OP, when I said thicker, I meant the actual hairs, not the density of hair on your face.

Don't! Being beardy is ace

How? Hairs start off very thin then get thicker during the first couple of months they grow - that's why they feel fluffy. If you cut the thin ends off it doesn't feel fluffy any more. Doesn't make it grow any faster though - simple fact is facial hair will grow faster the older you get anyway.

Fine, but when I start getting food stuck in it, it's coming off.

Who the hell ever wanted a ginger beard anyway? I know I don't.
Pub calls. I don't have a ginger beard either  Nor have I ever gotten food stuck in it.

my facial hair anywhere have not been growing much (i think)

is that normal?

i am 16 btw
Mudman: no, but I do have a ginger beard. That's why I hate it.

Anonymous: yes, it's normal, you're 16.

aah.
if i were you i wouldn't shave any of it, use hair lightener, you can get it from boots and other places. it doesn't remove the hair but it lightens it so its a lot lot less obvious unless you're reeeeeally upclose.

if you don't like that then try waxing? you can wax your moustache area, the hair doesn't come back for ages, mind you it does pull off some skin so you have to be careful.

just don't shave! you don't want a stuble!!
Im 18 and lack facial hair dont worry about it at all, although I am starting to now lol. Shave when you think you need to, atm i shave about once every 3 or 4 days but still lack full facial hair. It is bugging me a bit now cause id like to have a bit of stubble on face from time to time!
