HMV start recruiting around November time. It's quite a demanding job but it's good pay and you get 30% discount on CD's and stuff.

It depends on the shop. Some say September, although generally I would start handing out CVs in october as that is the month in store planning usually starts for Christmas.
Ooo I am gonna work on a German xmas market this year!

from september for sure
Starting from September onwards. But like others have said it depends on the company itself. Some big companies like Asda for example might start recruiting early just to avoid any hassle. But I would go and inquire about it just in case if they start later.

Lol, I can assure you Asda will not be thinking even that far in advance - they leave everything last minute. Asda don't normally specifically recruit: they just have 'seasonal workers' who work 10 weeks a year. Normally students who worked there part time, and come back in holidays from Uni.

Debenhams are recruiting now! They had a table full of application forms with "Xmas Temps" written on the top at the front of the store.

they should accept the application form you are able to download on the site and then they will contact you nearer the time (oct/nov) and if you get one in early they will probably contact you first

I'm planning to go into town today as I've heard there's loads of stores with posters in their windows. Let you know if i have any luck with anything.
I would not recommend Woolworths
How much do the shops tend to pay?
River Island will have applications in the next 2 weeks or so for christmas temps.
