I found it quite odd when someone used the second one in a conversation on one of my visit days.
I'm not trying to discern which one is correct (it's obviously option A ), just which one I might be hearing around campus (if I can actually meet my offer, that is).
It's quite debatable actually, but I think the majority say option A. Did you end up firming Bath for economics then? I'm going to be heading to Bath for Econ in September

If you go to Bath University, you're going to be around a lot of southern, middle class kids who will probably say it like "Barth".
Yep. Pronouncing it with an 'a' is the American pronunciation. It's just the same sound as 'what,' though. Another one which gets on my nerves is titanium... It's not 'tight-ai-nium' (long I, in other words), it's 'ti-tai-nium' (short I).
I am from bath, everyone pronounces it like option A because it is a southern middle class city. Most people I meet from outside of Bath pronounce it like option B though, doesn't really matter no proper way although obviously option A is more BBC English.
