A thread about a stiletto accident, flesh and green stuff

From wearing a pair of new stilettos one night, on the back of my heel, the skin had peeled off the size of a 2p coin. Fleshy parts were showing, so I covered it up with a plaster as it bled a little. When I took the plaster off after a couple of days, the plaster had green sticky stuff on it, whats that?

I cant wear any closed shoes, because walking hurts :frown: so do wearing trainers, they rub on it. Besides a plaster, what should I put on it, so it will heal quickly? and how long will it take for the skin to grow back?

You can get blister plasters from boots, I think they are fairly expensive but they tend to do the job and they minimise pain when wearing backed shoes.

EDIT: I would also advise cleaning it with a sterile antibacterial type spray, these are also available from boots.
sounds infected. try pressing hot salt water on a bit of cotton wool or tissue. it shoudl draw out all the gunk. then you can put some germoline on or something

blister plasers are ok but i find they tend to come off too easily and it doesnt sound like you actualy have a blister. id just stick to an ordinary cushioned plaster if you have to wear something but your best off leaving it to air.
High heels are yet another form of oppression against women! This thread is further testament to this!

this happened to me a while ago. Clean the area well with some antibacterial stuff such as savlon/dettol etc. and then get some compeed blister plasters for heels. Theyre about £4.50 for 5. They will ease the pain of wearing shoes with backs and help your skin to heal. Theyre waterproof so you can leave them on for a few days at a time/ They dont even come off after a bath!

Yes but they are nice to look at

The stiletto, forces you to tense the muscles under your bum, which makes your bum shake side to side more as you walk.

This is not the place for the discussion of sexism. That is what D+D is for.

Blueangel, love the car in your sig
Cheers Noxid

and thank you everyone, I'll invest in some blister plasters and antibacterial cream.

I'd give it as much air as possible though, don't be covering it up all the time - it needs to breathe and heal...

I agree with leaving it to air, but if the OP wants to wear backed shoes I've found that blister plasters do actually work in minimising pain when walking, if you find they come off too easy stick a bit of that first aid tape over it for extra support.

Get blister plasters that should help  and the green sticky stuff is from your cut - just use some antiseptic wash or cream to clean it up then put a fresh dressing on it....wear flip-flops etc until the wound has healed it shouldn't hurt as much especially since you aren't keeping it enclosed!!!! But I really can't say how long it will take it could take up to 2 weeks depending on how you keep it clean etc.....but :hugs: see next time you wear new stilettos get blister preventing plasters from boots they should help :hugs:

Oh yes, and strange unidentifiable green grunge being secreted from a wound needlessly caused by the wearing of 'the stiletto' is nice to look at too, right? Well, as long as one's bum is shaking from side to side, I guess it doesn't matter.

no one forced her to wear heels. what if a lesbian wore them, would it still be oppression?

No, she hasn't been forced, but since the pressure of society is on women to wear such footwear, rather than men, it is a form of oppression against women. It's just a shame that some women choose to be party to their own oppression.

I always wear flat shoes because that is what I'm comfortable in, I've never felt forced into wearing heels. Infact I've only ever worn heels if I've wanted to and I have thought they looked good, not for anyone else. My boyfriend prefers me in flat shoes, which suits me fine as I prefer wearing flats.

I almost always wear flats because I'm tall and don't like towering over everyone. I do appreciate the comfort though but not always - flats can be as bloody painful as stilettoes if badly made or just not comfy. It's not oppression, it's just footwear.
