being Scottish i thought i would ask this question.
The GCSE is a similar exam to the Scottish Standard Grade with GCSE Higher being similar to the Scottish Standard Grade Credit.
Standard Grades a 2 year course with 1 final exam sat at the end of the 2nd year. There is a prelim exam sat about 4 months before the final exam it to see how you are getting on but it doesn't really count for anything.

If we take Maths for example:

how come there are 3 past papers per year for 2013, 2012 and 2011?
there's a past paper for the momths of Nov, Jun and Mar.

http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/mathe...d-mark-schemes

Can the final exam be sat in any of these months?

Does everyone in England and Wales sit GCSEs or is there any other examination bodies?
