I was hypnotised as part of an experiment but not to treat anything. Anyway, bottom line is it didn't work on me but it works for plenty of people. I just couldn't relax and kept wanting to burst into laughter.
An acquaintance has tried to hypnotise me on at least 2 occasions but it hasn't worked. On one of those occasions though another acquaintance, who is a wiccan, fired an 'energy ball' at me while the first acquaintance was trying to hypnotise me and apparently I became unsteady on my feet at the moment he 'fired'.

Yes Ive had it done, for an anxiety problem. It can work if you are open to it and go in with the right attitude (ie you want it to work).

If you want any more info then you are welcome to PM me, I dont really feel comfortable posting about it on here.

You do realise that role-playing Magic: The Gathering doesn't count?

Yes. During our freshers fortnight. I was very sceptical about the whole thing and there were bits that just didn't touch me... However, water started tasting like Bollinger and I stabbed the hell out of my own hand with a blood lancet (sterile!!!). I hate injections and anything sharp... The guy had to physically stop me as he thought I might actaully hurt myself!

Profesh

And I'm not talking about Magic: The Gathering, whatever it is, you pretentious arse. He got me to imagine I was in a brick box, like a chimney I guess. Oh yeah, and there were snakes, lotsa snakes *shudders*.

I've actually read up quite a bit on hypnosis and was supposed to be hypnotising a couple of friends (or trying to at least) before exam time, never happenned. It is very interesting though!

A lot of people have seemingly tried it in a drunken room with people laughing and being very sceptical... no wonder it didn't work.

Hypnosis is basically a state of total relaxation and many people don't feel they are "hypnotised". Either way, this total relaxed state would be difficult to achieve in many situations.
leave myself that vulnerable not a bloody chance in hell,
i have secrets no one sodding knows and i aint taking the chance someone could pull them out of me
One of my best mates at uni had previously been a hynotherapist for about three years, and i saw him hypnotise a few people. Mostly it was just stupid **** like making them want to kiss people when he said a trigger word, but once when he was drunk he started to hypnotise this girl, and he got an 'ab-reaction' or something and she was just suddenly hysterical, turns out he'd triggered some memories of loss of a family member or something and took about half an hour to calm her down. Beware of drunk hypnotists!

I've been hypnotised for an anxiety problem and it was the best treatment I ever had and by far the most effect. However, it isn't always available on the NHS and can be expensive but if you can definately give it a go. Also, make sure the hypnotist is registered with the British Medical Council
