posture

hi im 18 an used 2 be overweight but lost 5 an half stone and am now ideal weight for my height maybe a bit under but i used 2 be really slouched wen i was overweight wth my shoulders hunched sorta thing. since ive been losing weight ive also been tryin2 improve my posture by standing up straight and its worked as i no longer sloutch etc. only problem now is wen i stand up straight and tall after a while i start to get lower back pain. this happens alot wen out in town or walkin for a long time while keeping my shoulders back and straight. any1 know wat i shud do to stop the pain and that.
btw i dont get lower back pain if i sloutch

It's becasue your body is so used to you slouching before that it hurts when you stand stragiht, I would just keep doing it until you get so used to it the pain will go away.

If it's really severe pain though then i'd go see the doctor
suck your stomach in. that pulls all your muscles back and straightens your spine out a bit, relieving some of the stress on your lower back. But like lala said, probly best go to the doctors if it continues. Congrats on that weight loss though, that's well impressive!

yeah but realisticly speaking you cant exactly walk around all day with your stomach sucked in.

I somehow manage to! Apparantly for ever 5 seconds you hold it in it's like doing one sit up.. not sure if thats true but it can't hurt trying

The muscles in your back are probably not used to holding your body up straight. Eventually these muscles will strengthen and there won't be any pain anymore. Btw congrats on the weight loss, that's a fantastic ahievement.

Not sucked in like when youre a little kid pretending to be ethiopian, just sucked in about 40%. Can be done all day, i do it, originally for posture, now just a habit

as people have already suggested it sounds like it is down to the muscles on your back not being used to it. I'd suggest that you pop down to your local gym and see if they can help with some back exercises that will help strengthen your lower back muscles (or maybe someone on the forum here can do it as well - im not particularly knowledgeable of specific exercises!) Dont forget though, that if you strain it too much during the day, you oughta spend longer resting it at night.

How did you lose so much weight, its very impressive so well done you!

cheers for the replys people. umm i lost the weight within 9months by just goin down the gym 3 times a week and taking care of what i was eating. got the opposite problem now sorta where i wont touch anythin like a pizza etc. my diet has just gone down to a few varieties but then agen i dont mind this now as ive got used to it and rather have a boring diet than be overweight.
u know wen i stand up an try putting my chest out an shoulders back cud that cause my hips to move forward a bit an then strain my lower back? maybe i shud try walkin wth my ass pointing out a bit more if u get me so my hips are back? would that help ease the pressure
