headaches

recently ive been getting headaches every day. they go on forever, and arent excrutiating to the point of blinding pain but sometimes i feel a bit sick from them, and they make me feel tired all the time which is VERY annoying coz im often falling asleep and cant concentrate on revision and stuff over the hols.

at first i thought it was eye strain, so i got some glasses and they seem to help a bit. i still think it's a prob with my eyes. but any ideas on how to help them go away? paracetamol doesnt work too well. theyre just doing my head in, literally.

I recently just stopped getting headaches. I had been having them everyday for a good month or so along with dizziness. They went away though but I still feel dizzy. Doctor thinks it is block sinus's so gave me some steroid spray which is meant to clear it up in 3-5 days. It's done nothing and I bet it isn't my sinus's.

Do you feel dizzy?

you need to see a doctor. If theyre every day and last a while, its likely to be something yo'll need soe sort of treatment for. Seee a doctor!

if you read my post above you would see I suffered headaches for a month and they went away WITHOUT treatement. I'm just trying to say she might not need it.

yeah i do get dizzy, it's kinda like sea sickness travel sickness...i seriously think it's something to do with my eyes coz the pain radiates from there. but like i said, when i got them checked i only had eye strain, and the glasses i got for it dont seem to do much. i dunno if it's worth seeing the docs. although i have considered brain tumours and embolisms. i heard that not drinking a lot can cause them. i only drink a couple of glasses of water a day, could that be an issue?

Are you drinking enough water? Seriously, when i have a headache, before reaching for the pills, i normally down about 1.5litres of water. If i am still suffering after about an hour or two, then i'll take some paracetemol (anadin extra is the only thing that works for me)
When you say you got glasses, did the optician do a thorough check on you? Mine found that although my sight was 100% (touch wood) i 'strained' to see, hence i got headaches, causing a need for glasses.
Also (as embarrasing as this is), headaches may be caused by constipation. (i can't remember who told me this....)
(This might be irrelevant but some foods, e.g cheese & chocolate can often give headaches)
If you are feeling slightly sickly with your headaches, you are probably having migranes so if none of the above apply, definately go and see your GP

They sound like migraines to me, especially if they make you feel sick as well. Headaches are rarely serious, but if you're getting them every day and you are in a lot of pain from them, it's worth getting them checked out. Good luck!

how can you drink that much without feeling sick? :s and yeah the optician checked my eyes and the same was with me, sight was fine but the eyes were straining. the glasses help a bit but not much.

Whether yours went away or not isnt the issue... considering teh fact that headaches can be symptoms of some pretty serious conditions/problems with the head or brain, i think seeing a doctor is the most sensible option.

The doctor may say its nothing, but at least if it IS something that needs seeing to, the OP wont have made it worse.

just because yours went away doesnt mean the OPs will... how on earth can you assume that out of ALL the hundreds of possible things that could have caused the headaches, the OP's will be the same asyours, and even if it is, that the OP will have the same recovery!?

but arent migraines usually really bad to the point where you cant move your head or look at the light? coz minearent that bad, they just make me reeeeally tired and unable to concentrate, with a bit of sea sickness...lol

Maybe try going back to the optician? Maybe you need a stronger lens or something!?

It's really easy to drink that much - only about 3 of those small bottles a day. Just keep the bottles with u at all times and keep sipping. (they don't even need to be water - squash is ok too). And keep drinking throughout lunch/dinner etc. Honestly try it - on days when i've only had soft drink, i'm more likey to get a headache.

You are describing the exact same symptoms as me. When I got my headaches they were usually in the forehead, or just around the eyes. Had my eyesight tested like a week ago and got above average (good) vision results.

Like I said, doctor thinks it is my sinus's. Do you feel like you have a lot of mucas (or whatever it is) down the back of you nose, sort of trickling down your throat?

I was asked that by the doc and said yes, but it's been like that for years and doesn't give me long headaches/dizziness. All these symptoms began a day after a migraine attack btw.

Others have suggested it may be your eyes or water, but I disagree (assuming you got the same problem as me). I can drink 10 litres a day and still feel like crap. Not saying it wouldn't work for you though.

nah i dont have the mucus trickling down my throat, but who knows, could still be a sinus thing. i guess i'll have to see the doctor as suggested, although my doctor is really crap and will probably just get me in a headlock-like hold then tell me to take more paracetamol.

Reply 15

lol, headlock? o.0

nah ask about sinus's and question him on whether a Nasal spray would be helpful or not. Though at the end of the day, they are only guessing, like mine did.

How long have you had the headaches for?

This thread just makes me believe I don't have a sinus thing more.

ok will do, thanks for the advice

No problem.

So how long have you had them for?

well ive noticed them more over the last couple of weeks, but ive been having bouts of them since last summer holidays after GCSEs, then when i started doing history AS coz of all the reading i had to do. that's when i got the eye test and the glasses. i guess it's a long time to have not been to the docs....but i just thought it was tiredness and eye strain. but now im getting fed up...grrr...

Reply 19

Damn that is a long time.
