Death toll in major wars
I am trying to explore the causes of death in major wars of the 20th Century but I am finding it difficult to locate reliable sources. I am particulalry interested in the causes of death due to infection and disease. does anyone know of any good resources I could use to find such data? thank you
Try emailing the Imperial War Museum for sources or trawl through the BMJ around WW1 or WW2 dates.
These sort of statistics are notoriously unreliable as often causes of death on the battlefield are not recorded, or are not recorded accurately, but you might find relevant journal articles dealing wit the issue if you search through JSTOR etc.
