I actually don't mind the middle classes, so long as they're not pompous, arrogant, discriminating twunts like the op appears to be. I mean ffs; private schools are no better than state schools? where is this person from! and oh no, people are calling her "rah" - weeell yes, that's soooo incredibly offensive, I think I would just cry if anyone ever called me that. Not mentioning the fact that actually some girls rather like that word and call themselves it. The "socialist" middle classes whose daddies are chartered accountants are pretty annoying too, but at least they realise that there are problems rather than little miss "private schools spend the same or less than state schools per pupil". BS.

A bit like blacks calling themselves nigg3rs then, take it that word should now be socially acceptable?

no because of the historical connotations.

no because of the historical connotations.

I have a feeling it will become socially acceptable anyway, it already is in most of the pubs in Stoke.

because that's what every single lower class person does with their money.

Never mind the fancy cars, holidays, houses, jobs etc of the upper classes, let's just concentrate on the fact that the cockroaches are daring to crawl out from the darkness into the warm light of sky television. how dare they attempt to introduce some simple pleasure into their lives.

what people do with money that they work bloody hard for is totally up to them. what people spend goverment money on is a totally different scenario.

seriously would you ask a random person on the street to buy you a top of the range mobile? thats effectively what they are doing.

Which is precisely what this whole thread was about a few days ago. You pay for private school because you get a better education - primarily because you get better teaching.

true but anyone who thinks that means you dont have to work for it is delusional. if anything you have to work harder.

Quite what I have been talking about!

Unless you assume that everyone not on benefits is middle class then you are seriously stereotyping. Its not as if "just" middle class people have to fund those on the dole - you just tend to ignore that there are a LOT of working class people who are in that position.

That wasn't my point - I was simply saying that at private school you generally get better teaching. Alas there was still some girl from private school "claiming" otherwise which I feel is a complete insult to anyone at state school.

You pay tuition fees to get good tuition - not to gain more self confidence like flic_pearson claimed.

indeed - also, it's not as if sky tv (OMG!!!!) is a top of the range mobile costing hundreds of pounds. They're not really comparable.

again this is relevent to my point on how people shouldnt waste government money how? if anything this supports my post, why should people who work hard buy luxuries for people who dont?

I am not talking about who funds who. I was simply using that to prove to you that NOT just middle class people are funding the government - it's about time the middle class stopped using these pathetic excuses to claim how hard done by they are when there are people that aren't middle class ( and do not regard themselves as middle class ) who have to give up their hard earned money as well.

What's this?

Immediate linking of the working class with chavs? I thought you didn't generalise?

like i said what people do with their own money that they have worked for is up to them and i think (minus the chavs) most of the working classes fit into this catergory. the "snobbery" that you seem to think the middle classes have for the working classes is mostly down to chavs. tbh i see chavs as a class of their own, "working class" implies that they are actually working.

I would like to add that working class means you are working - so technically quite a lot of middle class are working class. It doesnt go down the ladder as middle class to working class - they are completely different ways of classing people.

As for middle class suffering from "snobbery" - yes it exists and one proof of it is how you constantly refer to it being middle class people that pay for so called "chavs" to have their mobile phones. I would like to point out YET AGAIN that you aren't the only class of person that pays for these people to have their luxuries so stop looking for sympathy - its not as if the middle class are so "hard done by" considering all taxpayers earning above a certain salary are funding these people.

i never said the middles are the only ones to pay taxes. i said its not fair on those who work hard (yes *shock horror* this includes the working classes) to have to pay for other peoples luxuries. im not looking for sympathy, im not even a tax payer (yet).

Rubbish.
I go to a school where this type of thinking is very abundant. It is very irritating and ignorant. If only people had a little bit more depth.

The stereotype of working class life is fish and chips everyday, underage drinking/sex, drugs - these things are not uncommon in the private school I attend.

Technically my quote was directed at some middle class posters already in this thread... like this one not too long ago:

Thing is about the middle class is that we have a good reason to hate the lower class. But not vice versa.

Principally, our money is taken from us by the government and then GIVEN to them and then they spend it on things like Sky tv. Which is no cicrumstances can be a fair state of affairs.

Sorry if it seemed to be directed at you specifically.
