I'm confused by all the weightings and grades I have, could anyone help me
?
Modules and 'Credits' (?)
Texts in Time - 30
Reading Genre - 15
Critical Approaches - 15
Assessments and my marks in these modules:
Texts in Time:
Portfolio ( Weighting: 18% , mark: 68%)
Essay (Weighting: 42%, mark: 71%)
Exam (Weighting: 40%, mark: TBA)
Reading Genre:
Presentation (Weighting: 30%, mark: 66%)
Essay (Weighting: 70%, mark: TBA)
Critical Approaches:
Presentation (Weighting: 20%, mark: 73%)
Essay (Weighting: 80%, mark: TBA)
Can anyone work out what I would need in my Texts in Time exam to pass the year? Assuming I have got 70% in my reading genre and critical approaches essays?
Or what I would need in my Texts in Time exam to pass the module?
Anyone brilliant at maths please help!!!

Texts in Time:
Portfolio ( Weighting: 18% , mark: 68%)
Essay (Weighting: 42%, mark: 71%)
Exam (Weighting: 40%, mark: TBA)
Assuming 40% is a pass and your coursework doesn't get scaled due to exams
You currently have:
0.18*0.68 + 0.42 * 0.71 = 0.4206
Which is 42% so you have passed.
Critical Approaches:
Presentation (Weighting: 20%, mark: 73%)
Essay (Weighting: 80%, mark: TBA)
You currently have: 0.2*0.73 = 0.146
which is 14.6%
You need 40% to pass so you need to achieve 25.4% of this from your essay.
Now: 0.8*MARK=0.254. Rearranging, we get: MARK = 0.3175 i.e. you need 32% in your essay to pass.
