Can I get insured on a BMW 325i M-reg?

Can I get insured on a BMW 325i M-reg?

It was bought in 1994 and is in good-ish condition. More importantly, I am 17!!!! **** man I'm gettin' old! And when I start driving it I will just have passed.

It's also a CONVERTIBLE but has a seperate hardtop and AUTOMATIC transmission.

I know you can't rly get insured unless ur over 25 (on cars like convertibles etc) but hey...would like to have a go.

And how much you reckon it would be fellow motorheads?

Oh and also, d'ya reckon I can get insured on a 4.4ltr Jeep Grand Cherokee b. 1999. And how much?

Both cars are petrol btw.

:frown: setting my hopes too high i know but it would be awesome

In a word, yes. But it'll be pricey. Try getting quotes online. That's the best advice you'll get.

exactly, someone i know has a db9, a couple of others have range sports and big engined bmw's - all on company insurance, they were paying a maximum of 1/3 of my 1.6 litre mini one premiums in my first year!!!!!!

my family were looking into getting fleet insurance and i thought i'd be able to get insured on a high powered car (wanted the lexus 4x4) but it turned out to be more expensive than our individuals policies for current cars.

i'd like to buy my friends 330 coupe so if anyone could be of any assistance it would be very much appreciated. so far i can't get reasonable insurance (below about 3.5k) on anything over 2 litres.

thanks
drive on your parents insurance or become loaded. Why do you want a nice car at 17? Your more likely to have a smash in it!

why do you think anyone wants a nice car?!
The guy has a point, ive got a 1.6focus which is perfect but its my first car and I know im probably damaging it with my ****ty driving.

As for having a hummer what a waste of time, a small sportscar maybe at the most. How can you justify paying for insurance/petrol on one of them.

I think people would waste their money because they cant pull a girl any other way.

Lol @ a Hummer for your first car. Someone with no parking/road experience trying to drive and park one of them?

You CAN get insurance but it'll probably cost more than the cars worth

Try and get quotes with online insurers - try moneysupermarket.com and confused.com as a start. You may have trouble getting online quotes though and they'll ask you to phone for more details.

Are you from the ghetto?

I mean your name is the bad boy, and as if wanting an old soft top BMW wasn't gangster enough, you want it as your first car!

I would be embarassed driving a BMW

I'm insured on a Honda S2000 some how. But it doesn't cost me anything as its my Dad's car. Its fun to drive though  But normally I drive the Corsa its more practical.
Seriously, How the Hell are you people affording BMWs etc as first cars????

Maybe they're just richer than you Rosie  Or Daddy paid for it.
unless u want to look like a complete prick or gangsta trippin person dont get a bmw, especially one of that vintage. You do know that it'll cost a bomb to run, not just petrol but servicing and general maintance, eg cam belt might cost £800 to change and twice that again if the head gasket blows plus the insurance will cost about the same as the car itself. why not buy a new car for £6k with free insurance etc and then save the other £4k for whatever you want

Plus also the PO-lice love stopping young people driving old BMW's or Mercs. Mainly because thats what most drug dealers drive.
if u want an oldish convertible get a VW Golf MK1 cabriolet, you can pick a decent one up for a grand and they were made till 1991 i think so they are not too old (compared the usual mk1's). not only is is a better car its cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, has more 'street cred' and hasnt got the **** factor of a bmw
