Your top 5 albums of all time

In response to the top 5 artists thread, which I don't know how to answer because I'm quite picky. It makes more sense to me to do a top 5 albums list.

Here are mine:

Radiohead - OK Computer
Pink Floyd - The Wall (Comfortably Numb wins its place)
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes
Muse - Origin of Symmetry

These are pretty much interchangeable with the following:

The Hoosiers - The Trick To Life
Green Day - American Idiot
Agnes Obel - Aventine
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade

I'd expect to see a lot of The Dark Side of the Moon, but *blasphemy* it just doesn't really do it for me.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - No More Shall We Part
Sigur Rós - Takk

Here's a list of my top 5 albums so far, in terms of how well the album was made and the album's progression and stuff...
Between the Buried and Me - Colors
Trivium - Ascendancy / Ember to Inferno
The Human Abstract - Nocturne
Poison the Well - The Opposite of December
Misery Signals - Of Malice and the Magnum Heart

Btw, It doesn't necessarily mean the artists are my top 5 favourite though lol, I just think these albums are amazing!

I have no idea which are artists and which are albums..

That problem is precisely why I couldn't say which artists are my favourite.

Hahaha, oops. Artists on the left and albums on the right lol... My taste in music is... er... different :headbang: But yeah they're mostly experimental/progressive albums which is why I like them

Probably answered this before, but what the hell:
1. Between the Buried and Me - Colors
2. King Crimson - Larks Tongues in Aspic
3. Bad Brains - Bad Brains
4. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
5. Death - Symbolic

Ones that didn't quite make the cut:
Black Sabbath - Master of Reality
Converge - Jane Doe
Karnivool - Sound Awake
NAS - Illmatic
The Clash - London Calling

Plus SO many more!
Damn I love music...
Poetry of the Deed - Frank Turner
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
Humbug - Arctic Monkeys
The Sound of Madness - Shinedown
Morrison Hotel - The Doors
Abbey Road - The Beatles (I like Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour just as much but Abbey Road has them at their most harmonious).
LA Woman - The Doors (I like Strange Days - and to be honest- The Soft Parade- just as much)
Ogdens Nut Gone Flake - The Small Faces
Smile - Brian Wilson
The Sensual World - Kate Bush

At least as worthy:

Radiohead - The Bends (but I'd equally go with Hail to the thief).
Green - REM. (But Michael Stipe annoyed me once in a reply to a question I posed in a magazine. Name dropping.. but they are a great band with many other album contenders)
Pink Floyd- take your pick from The Dark Side of the Moon , Wish You Here Here or The Division Bell. Dark Side is most consistently best.
(edited 9 years ago)
1. Darkness on the Edge of Town - Bruce Springsteen
2. Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf & Jim Steinman
3. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
4. The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle - Bruce Springsteen
5. The '59 Sound - The Gaslight Anthem

Tried to change it up a little bit but I could easily insert 3 other Springsteen records into that top 5. Born to Run, Nebraska, The River and Magic were all serious considerations for the list.
Sinners Never Sleep - You Me At Six
Whatever people say I am... - Arctic Monkeys
Torches - Foster the People
Fractured Life - Air Traffic
Halcyon Days - Ellie Goulding

Shania Twain- come on over
Mcfly- 5 colours in her hair
kaiser chiefs- employment
maroon 5- songs about jane
Avril lavigne- let go
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
Music For The Jilted Generation by The Prodigy
Yeezus by Kanye West (has only been out a year so subject to change)
The Blueprint by Jay Z
Sort of stuck on the fifth. I'm not massive on old music and rarely listen to albums through from start to finish. Perhaps No More Idols by Chase and Status, English Rain by Gabrielle Aplin, Plastic Beach by Gorillaz. Hmm.
