I do not think they will ask about stages in meiosis - that stuff is for mitosis. They may however ask for the purpose/importance and how exactly it gives genetic variation i.e. chiasmata, random assortment

I have never seen a question on the stages but I have seen questions about chromosomal crossover so that is important know which is also a part of meiosis. Obviously the two daughter haploid cells is important to know too as it has come up before.

I do AQA, and I think you need to have an understanding of the stages as there are questions based on gametes and their formation
