University of Nottingham Resits

Hi guys  I'm currently in my second year at the University of Nottingham and in the middle of my spring semester exams. The exams are significantly harder than the autumn semester, and I'm a little worried that I won't preform as well, specially because I need a 2:1. I was wondering whether anyone knows if it would be possible for me to resit one exam in August to improve my grade if I don't do well? I know there's grade capping for resits, but I couldn't find any information on the website about what resits are like for people who just want to improve their grades :/ It said the resits were for people who failed modules. Anyway, if anyone has any information for me, please let me know

You're not entitled to a resit in modules that you have passed or if you have met the progression criteria to start the next year.

Generally, resits marks don't count towards your degree classification - they only count to determine whether or not you are allowed to sit the next year. For example, if you got 28% in a module and had to resit it, and you got 50% in your resit, that 50% would mean you've passed the module and are allowed to start the next stage of your degree, but when calculating your degree classification, your 28% mark would count.

Some courses do have exceptions to these rules, so you'd have to let us know your UCAS course code (e.g. G400). Generally though, those are the rules.

The full regulations can be found at http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/academicservices/qualitymanual/studyregulations/studyregulationsforundergraduatecourses.aspx (specifically regs 9-20)

You could however choose to resit the whole year, and if you're funded by Student Finance they will cover one extra year.

U lot r the worst for that why not give us a cap of 40 it’s genuinely mind blowing when I got 6 exams worth 100% of the module in a span of 10 days I’m gonna get a bad grade in one and now my degree classification got screwed cuz of that ur one of the couple of uni’s that do this alongside one of the few uni’s that don’t have international resits for the majority of ur modules. The uni’s higher ups are clearly a bunch of ******s.
