Personal and Cultural despair Watch
Can anyone out there (maybe studying sociology or poliitics or something) please help me to clarify the distinction between 'personal despair' and 'cultural despair'?
I guess 'personal despair' means an individual losing hope within thier own life, perhaps despairing of things happening to them personally.
But does 'cultural despair' refer to an individual despairing of their culture and things and constructs greater than their own individual lives, Or does it mean a shared sense of despair common to all the members of a culture? Essentially is it despairing about a culture, or despair shared by a culture (if this makes sense!)
Ahy help in clarifying would be really appreciated!
