Fellow Medic types, for some reason i've decided that we should have a decent medicine wiki page so i'd like your help.

I've already ported all the information contained in miles's and fluffy's stickies and am in the process of checking it all and updating it.

I've included the Entrance exam info that i've been able to find but i dont really know much about that so if anyone could check/give me more info on that it'd be much appreciated.

I'd like to build up a decent resource which we can use when people ask questions and which people can browse at their leisure. Which is why i'm asking for those of you that can/can be bothered/want rep/whatever, to write some bits for me. You might not have used the wiki before, in which case if you write something just post it here and i'll sort it out, otherwise you can edit it yourself if you so wish.

If you cant be bothered to do anything for it, feel free to add your ideas here.

PLEASE HELP muchos rep for people who do

There are some bits on entrnace exams here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...ghlight=Gamsat

Add to that, BMAT and UKCAT and you should cover all 5 year (/6 year inc compulsary intercalation) and GEP courses...

Also links to all UK med schools (I did this for the AF site) - they were all active when I made the list up about 6 months ago, but you might want to check them to make sure they are not broken...

    EDIT - Checked and updated.

I'll write a more solid Graduate Entry overview tomorrow if I get a chance (unless someone else wants to!)...

I've done a little bit on entrance exams, but could do with tidying up a little.

I was just looking through the personal statements there, and came across this.
Looks like an essay/PS for a slightly different thing to me.
EDIT: Id love to help out....but im not quite sure what I can do

I'm sure i've got some useful info somewhere. A couple of immediate things I can think of in terms of interview prep etc. is writing a work experience diary (it helps SO much before interviews to actually know what you did!) and making a newspaper scrapbook.... I shall return in a couple of days with some more substantial info ... xxx

Do you think it would be a nice idea to have articles on "Medicine at X university" somewhere in there (a la Blissy's English at Cambridge one) in order to give some more personal/in depth information?

Yes very - I will get round to doing a medicine at Manchester version soon hopefully.

I already did a thread about the first year, so I can rip the content off that and be well on my way

I've just started a section on the UCAS form with PS help, i'd appreciate it if anyone could take a look and add things/suggest additions.

I personally would add: voluntary work, charity work, and also areas of medicine which particularly interest you (they then can ask you something at your interview).

Also, I see there's a section saying "life as a Manchester Medical Student" - when I go to University in September I'd be more than happy to do a section as a St. Andrew's student (a good variation to Manchester as then there would be a PBL and a traditional teaching university)

I did a fairly mammoth post on Medic PSs a while back - will try & hunt it down.

    Edit - bingo.

I'm trying to write a section for you on the wiki, but it will not let me log on - I have an wikipedia account... but cannot log on with either details from the forum or wikipedia (just made a new account too and it still won't let me)

And I'm pretty sure I have cookies enabled

You need to set up a TSR wiki account - not a wikipedia one...
