I hate myself for using social networks

I constantly delete and remake my twitter, tumblr, forum, instagram and facebook accounts. I cringe when I look at my old tweets/posts and feel like they're embarrassing. I also scrupulously edit my favourites on twitter and delete my tweets if they weren't funny.
Part of my reasoning is that I waste too much time flicking onto social networks during revision. Unfortunately, when I go cold turkey and delete all of my accounts I get really restless and feel like I need another outlet for my emotions, or even just some attention from people.
Does anyone else feel like this? It's so strange that I make it such a big deal

Do you mean you got groomed? That's awful. Dirty old men are literally all over the internet . In high school I had to have a meeting with the police because this random guy who I had a very brief conversation with online once was convicted as a paedophile. My parents had to get involved and everything; so embarrassing.

I thought I deleted this lol

Well my photos were misused in several diff ways.
Like I would see my photos on someone else's page
whether I knew them or didn't.
They'd either fake me or just put a random photo up out my album on their page saying, "That's my girl" or something. And it was violating.
I'd get friend request's from bare *****, literally, photos of cocks.
This one time the major time I was 14 and over the summer I "developed" and so I posted like harmless bikini photos and by the time I came back everyone had seen them and tried to **** me.
SO I had to change schools.

I just don't do the whole social media thing. Unless you're someone important I don't get it, I hate seeing random people posting and they have like under 100 followers or whatever and no ratings hardly. It's like whyyyy are you doing this lol Leave the house and make a real friend instead.

Mind blowing. How old were you when they did this?! Social networks really bring out the pervy misogynist in your average joe :puke:.
Yeah you're much better keeping out of it! It's just a waste of time and it makes you feel like you're socialising when you're not actually forming relationships with anyone.

EXACTLY THE SAME issue mate, except im a piss-head. I say stuff on forums when im drunk, come back on when im sober and.................OMG,WTF?!!!! Fortunately nobody knows who I am. You may have paranoia, in which case all your friends will be saying unkind things behind your back and spreading silly rumors about you based on what you said in those old posts. If your not paranoia tho you wont have these issues.

Lol! I don't think I'd call it paranoia, I just read my twitter and think "wow what a **** why are you trying so hard to be funny".

Was sarcastic about the paranoia bit. I do know what you mean tho via my own alcoholism. Happens all the time. In fact im quite pissed right now. Best thing is just to think "**** it" and forget it.

Write a diary, then you can express yourself without worrying how it appears to other people. If this doesn't appeal to you then it is clear you are just over-conscious about your image among your peers rather than social media really being an "outlet for your emotions". That would be a standard and timeless gripe of being a teenager so if you are one you're facing an uphill battle.

That's a good idea! I'll definitely start one :hugs:
Yeah it is partly an image thing to be honest. I care way more about my online image than I do in "real life".
